Neverending Light

So, after a while of no posting, and with a record of only one post, I finally found another game that inspired me to write a bit about it. So, the title says it all... it's Neverending Light. It was done by Jiggmin, who has also done some other games like The Game of Disorientation (which is one of my favorites btw) and Platform Racing (a simply awesome multiplayer online platform game!).

Something interesting about this game is that more than that, it follows a storyline and a plot in a way that you feel like you're the main character in a movie. In fact, you can select which scene to play in the main menu, so the intention to make it have this movie feel is evident.

The game begins when you go in a tour into some underground caverns. Your girlfriend has prepared it as a surprise to you. There's a tour guide that's supposed to guide you through the tour, but the trip won't last too long for her... there's a sudden change in the plans when lights turn off. And that's where the action begins. Well, more than action, suspense.

As I don't want to ruin the game, I won't tell the whole story (or the story of part 1). What I want to say is that it is simply a great game. The music and the dark ambient with just your lantern to watch your way makes the game a very different and interesting experience in what flash games concern. Travelling trhough the caves without knowing what is in the next corner makes the game quite interesting. And it gets better when you are able to watch some creatures that want you dead, and some other friendly ones.

The graphics, if not the best, are very good, and suitable to the game. The effect of the lantern is pretty well done as you can see the shadows of the objects, walls and even yours drawn in the ground.

A feature that I liked a lot is that you can get these light balls that will let you unlock some features when you pass the game. That's definitely a good touch because later you'll be able to watch some cool stuff to know the characters better.

So, this game is twisted, and that's what makes it unique. Its a 10. I am waiting for the 2nd part, as I suppose the ones who have already played the game are. And if you haven't, here it is at NG.

Thanks for reading and God bless!
