Today's game review.

So, this is the 1st post of this new blog I'm starting. What is Gaming X-Ray all about? It's a place to find reviews of some of the best Flash games out there. Everyday we can find some great titles around the web, so let's get an X-Ray of some of those awesome games!

I was trying to find a good game to start this... I couldn't so I picked it randomly. Just kidding. This time's review is about a highly addictive and colorful shooter; it's Ether War! You can play it here if you haven't. It was created by Lucas Paakh for Candystand.

Ether War is a game that takes place in outer space. Starting from the menu you can see a very high-quality and polished game. It has great graphics; it's colorfullnes is a distinctive aspect of it. You can see rays and sparkles all around the warzone, which adds a really good mood to it.

One thing that I liked is how it keeps performing quite well while loads of enemies, allies, bullets, rays, explosions and else are taking place. Really good performace with great graphics and a lot going on; something hard to achieve most of the times.

The controls are easy to use. You move with the classic wasd, and aim with the mouse. You can experience a smooth movement an easy control of your spaceship. Everything keeps simple and quite intuitive.

The upgrades make the game more interesting. Each time you kill an enemy you get some green balls that give you ether. Ether is like money in the game. You buy upgrades with it. Starting with your average ship you can make it more powerful by impoving its cannon, shield, engine and adding some cool stuff to it, to later get rid of all the yellow orbiters round there and then go for the brood mutha! But be aware, because your enemy can upgrade too, and you'll see new enemies appear to crush you and your generator. Cool, isn't it?

I think getting rid of the brood mother is not as hard as destroying the yellow orbs. It's better to go for them when you get a descent cannon and an upgraded shield at some level cus they are not too easy to destroy.

Another cool feature in the gameplay is that your shield energy is constantly filling, insted of just running out of it and dying. That lets you get out of hard battle to make your energy fill again before they kill you. Though, it also happens to your enemies. They're constantly regenerating so destroy 'em fast.

Overall a great game. It's not lacking anything. The only I would like is that it was explained in the instructions that you have to destroy all the yellow dudes before going for the brood mother. I had to figure it out :P

I quite enjoyed playing it and if you like shooters I'm pretty shure you'll enjoy this one. Give it a try if you haven't. You can also find it at Newgrounds here. Thanks for reading and blessings to y'all!
